why? Because good looking games require ART. Good GAMES require good programming, good creativity and skill.
Even if you make a 3d game, if you have no art it’s going to look like hell. If you make a 2d game with your own art, unless you are a graphic artist, it’s also going to look like hell. Even IF you are an artist AND programmer, you are going to have a UNGODLY amount of work to do, especially if you are doing both.
So by yourself you are limited to making something simple. Gameplay > all

It IS possible to learn AND make a game at the same time. I don’t know why people don’t use SDL or Allegro and teach C/C++ at the same time.
So yeah, I’d look that up. I’m really thinking on making videos about this now.
Also JailBreak555: If you have the attitude of “I don’t want to make a game that looks like it’s from 1960″ then you are never going to be making games, period. Sure you might find a “3d game maker” but you will never have a career making games.

make you feel like you are actually making progress learning and creating games.
You will always start by learning how to write simple programs. In fact, you will spend most of the time (and in a lot of books and tutorials, ALL of the time) in front of a console (all text) window making programs with no graphics at all.
These are important to learning and becoming a good programmer but when your mind is set on games you will never feel any sense that you are getting closer.

Inevitably, you will realize that you won’t be able to do what you want and will need to learn to program to do it. This will make programming harder as you will have to unlearn all the bad habits that something like a ‘game maker’ creates.
The problem with this, of course, is that programming a game is hard and takes a long time. I should really make some tutorials as I haven’t seen any good ones that give you enough results that

This isn’t a good way to learn to make games. This sort of thing is good at teaching you simple game logic or to prototype a game idea.
GameMaker IS complex enough that you can spend a year or so making what you want. HOWEVER. . Learning to program would be a much better investment in time.
If you learn how to program you get absolute complete control. You actually CAN make anything. You will run into limitations with this. In order to get by those you will need to trick it into doing what you

Get an anti virus hammy0and0ducky or if your not sure that an anti virus is safe read some comments i’m not telling you if you have an anti virus or you read comments you wont download a virus me carefull virus are kinda obvious to spot thougt. .

That is unfortunately the risk we all take when d-loading stuff from the internet. I myself trust yoyogames. As long as you have a good virus detection program, and it is up to date, you should be fine. It is a great program to use.

They are making a version for macs but it is still in beta mode right now. You can d-load it but I do not know where.

u can make the Sprites and put it in or draw a sprite(real life),scan it into ur printer and upload it to ur PC or Mac whatever u have
